Although a small island, different geographical
locations influence
Tasmania's climate.
The west coast of Tasmania, being directly in the path of the Roaring Forties
is colder and wetter than other parts. The more protected east coast enjoys
a much warmer, milder climate.
Hobart is largely protected from the westerlies by Mt Wellington. For this
reason Hobart weather is generally milder and more clement.
What to Wear on your Visit to Tasmania
It is said that Tasmania can experience four
seasons in one day, so it is advisable to be prepared for changeable weather.
It is recommended to always bring a jacket.
But don't be fooled into thinking it cannot get hot. Tasmania's weather can
turn up the heat with hot summer days and a hat and sunscreen are a must for
outdoor activities.

December to February, with January
and February being the warmest months.
Temperatures range from 17 - 25 degrees celsius, this is the ideal time for
touring Tasmania
Tasmania's weather is characterised
by four distinct seasons with each season having
its own individual features.
March to May brings clear, cooler
days, but it is still possible to enjoy warmer weather
through to May. Much of Tasmania is at its most beautiful in autumn with the
changing colours.
June to August, The days become
shorter, the nights colder and snow can appear on the higher peaks. The average
daily temperature ranges between 11 - 13 degrees celsius and night time temperatures
can go to zero. Pack warm clothes. However winter can also be marked by clear,
sunny days. Outdoor activities are still possible provided you are warmly
dressed.
September to November brings
with it rising temperatures and lengthening days. New growth and flowering
trees herald the promise of summer.

of year.
